CLEAN TOWN

Clean Town is our campaign for a better environment. Instead of trying to save the entire world at once we will start where we are, and try to see what we can do here and now. Peace & Love strives to be Sweden’s cleanest festival and we will achieve this by involving our visitors.

Everyone is responsible
By giving the visitors a choice to participate in our cleanliness campaign we are trying to make it as easy as possible to keep the festival clean as well as trying to make people think twice about littering. We want to show that festivals and their campsites can be good fun and clean at the same time. It is a huge effort to make sure that all the waste and rubbished is looked after properly and because of this we want to start a movement where people naturally think of where to dispose of their litter instead of just leaving it behind.

Lead by example
We have gradually been building more and more disposal stations where our visitors can sort their litter. We started in 2008 at the campsite where there is the most amount of litter and in 2009 we took the concept with us to the festival site. Clean Town in an organisation within the festival that works on changing people’s perception on cleanliness and cleaning in general. All of those who clean are the most important bearers of our message who lead by example.

We can do it together
Everyone who stays at the campsites will recognise the Clean Town staff. They are the ones handing out bin bags to those who want to clean up and keep it tidy around your camp spot. help you keep it tidy at the campsite. More and more of our visitors are choosing to keep it clean around where they are staying and by doing this they manage to enjoy the festival lifestyle even more. To change a trend takes time and effort but we are slowly getting there.

20 seconds is enough
We will continue to work on what we have started. The goal is that everyone will adopt the Clean Town philosophy and know that every little thing makes a difference, regardless of where you are.
